About Devon Davasher, LCSW, Gay Male Trauma Therapist

Welcome to My Therapy Room!

I became a therapist because I needed one.

I lost my mom when I was 18. That kind of loss reshapes you whether you are ready or not. In the years that followed I struggled with OCD, anxiety, and depression and reached for whatever would take the edge off. Gaming, substances, anything that created a little distance from the pain. Some of those things helped in the short term and hurt in the long term. When I finally sat down with a therapist I was terrified. What I found changed my life, not because therapy magically fixed everything, but because for the first time I had a space to be completely real without consequence.

That is what I want to build for you.

I am Devon Davasher, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Certified Case Manager (CCM), and Certified Financial Social Worker (CFSW) with over a decade of clinical experience. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and am a Certified STAR Provider, trained specifically to support military personnel and veterans.

As a cisgender gay man and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, affirming care is not something I do, it is something I live. I have a particular passion for working with queer and gender-diverse clients, people questioning their identity, and family members learning to support a loved one who is coming out. I also have a deep love for working with older adults, who bring a wisdom and resilience that reminds me why this work matters.

I see everything through a trauma-informed lens and practice unconditional positive regard. That means no matter what you bring into the room, you will not be judged for it. I take a harm reduction approach to substance use and believe in personal autonomy. Recreational use, including cannabis, is not something I moralize about when it is not causing harm in your life. When the moment calls for it I will be direct with you. I use humor in therapy when it helps, because sometimes it does. Therapy does not always have to be grim to be effective.

Outside the therapy room you will find me captaining my adult kickball team, hustling at card games, camping, swimming, or eating my way through a new city. I am a concert person through and through, all genres but with a soft spot for rock and metal. I travel whenever I can, I take food seriously, and I will not pretend I am not excellent at Fortnite. I believe in the power of play, rest, and joy as part of a full life and I try to bring that same energy into sessions.

No judgement. No shame. No BS. Reach out today!
